The course provides students with the knowledge and skills to use drawing as a mean of communicating ideas and projects. Familiarize students with a range of freehand drawing and rendering techniques, as a means of communicating ideas and thoughts effectively. A series of hands-on exercises enable students to gain experience and confidence in visual communication. Students are encouraged to explore and experiment with various rendering skills and art media. In addition of drawing foundations the course focus on character design and illustration using digital drawing.

This module will challenge students to use a pencil, markers a sketchbook and digital medium to illustrate imaginative narrative stories. The emphasis will focus on the development of taking a narrative concept and composing it into a short form screenplay. Once the concept is transposed into words it will then be depicted with hand drawn images in a sequential frame storyboard. Industry screenplay and storyboarding examples will be shown throughout the module to educate students by observing professional examples.

Most importantly, the student will learn to develop a structured story line: Creating an idea, communicating the idea efficiently with written language, developing and visualizing the story with storyboards.

Introduce the students to the process of 2D Animation production, the history, terminology of and techniques used in the current industry. Starting with traditional animation and the principles, moving forward with hand drawing animation, rotoscopy, stop motion and finally digital animation. The students will see how this principles and techniques are still applicable to modern animation and TV shows. Students will have to demonstrate the ability to use different Animation techniques to produce a short 2D animation, using a variety of techniques.

This course focus on humans and creature anatomy, it starts from understanding and creating realistic drawing of bones and muscles structures for humans and animals and it will go into depth by translating those drawing in clay sculptures anatomically correct.

This course teaches from orthogonal drawing, measurement, and armature construction, dynamic and neutral posing, then concentrates heavily on primary and secondary form. Once established, students learn how to detail sculptures with skin texture, wrinkles, scales, etc. Finally, students learn how to polish sculptures to a professional finish using a variety of techniques.

This course aims to develop skills in creating 3D models, illuminating the scene, materials creation, texturing, creating cameras controls and basic rendering. Students will have an overall view of Maya interface, tools and techniques for animation and 3d assets creation. Some of the topics are modeling using Nurbs, Polys and subdivision, advance materials using hypershade, maya default lighting, mental ray, hdri and render passes.

Students begin the process of character development with sketches and orthogonal drawings to be used as a set of image planes, color pallets and textures. The 3D development process begins once the character design process is complete. Utilizing Zbrush, students model and texture their characters based on their original concept drawings and render their character(s) within a well-lit 3D environment complete with skybox and props. A range of modeling and texturing techniques will be covered as well as introduction to a range of design tools including dynamesh, zspheres, zsketch, zremesher. Finally we will review retopology tools, texture maps to optimize the characters for animation or video games.

This course aims to cover most advance hard surface modeling and detailing techniques in Zbrush & Maya for mechanical character. It covers everything from starting with a concept mesh to creating a clean base mesh and detailing. Robot, vehicles and weapons creation, are some of the exercises cover in class in addition we continue by understanding how to build our own alphas and brushes, we will go into shadow box, insert, curve bushes, mesh extraction, retopology, Zmodeler, clipping tools and panel loops.

The goal of this course is to aid and improve the students own ability to set up a character for a wide range of complex body movements. Emphasis is placed on techniques for creating controls, which are realistic, flexible, and intuitively animated.

Advanced topics related to kinematic character set-up are covered in this course. Topics include skeletons, forward/inverse kinematics, and custom control panels. Examples demonstrated include cars, bipeds, quadrupeds & multi-peds,.In the same way the course covers facial rigs, blend shapes, muscle system & simple mel scripting.

Instruction and projects will improve each student’s ability to set up a character for a wide range of deformations, therefore, it is highly recommended that students have a finished model in preparation for this course. However, Lecturer will provide models for specific student assignments.

Students will continue their work on character designs and bring life and personality to their models through the art and techniques of character animation. Students will create animation cycles and poses so that they can perform any number of actions with their model as if they were controlling a highly tuned marionette. Various common animation cycles will be explored including standard walk, idle and run cycle before students advance to lipsync, blend shapes and their animation skill set by creating their own character performances. This is a production-oriented class culminating in a final short film sequence complete with character animation keyed camera movement, staging and accompanying sound.

This course aims to introduce students to Visual effects history and production. Several weeks are spent thoroughly analyzing Maya's tool chest for particle emission, which includes point, particle/particle, curve, and surface emitters. While discussing emission, we also look at how to control particle motion and behavior through the use of fields and collisions. In the same way the module starts by going through the fundamentals of 3D and 2D fluids, oceans, and ponds, as well as their properties and options. It then moves through the usage of each type of fluid and how to implement them as effects. In the same way the course covers cloth and hair simulation, Xgen and Bifrost.
